The Jabal Dhanna Marina and Ferry Terminal is a major coastal infrastructure development on Abu Dhabi’s western coastline, comprising multiple marinas, a slipway and waiting pontoon, new and upgraded rock revetments, dredging and reclamation works, and associated outfall structures. Delivered under a Design & Build contract, the project required robust marine engineering solutions tailored to shallow nearshore conditions and site – specific metocean drivers.

Abu Dhabi Ports initiated the further development of Mugharraq Port in order to meet and support the growing demand on port infrastructure from current port users as well as the increase in demand due to the growing oil and gas industry in the area. The project included the deepening of the existing basin and the “Delma” entrance channel to -8.0m LAT, the construction of a new 400m long quay wall accommodating a future design depth of -10m LAT, reclamation and soil improvement of the area behind the new quay wall and the construction of a new rock revetment along the perimeters of the new reclaimed area.
Marine Structures, Supervision Management
Abu Dhabi Ports developed a jetty at the southeast corner of Sir Bani Yas Island to facilitate passenger transfer between cruise vessels and the Cruise Beach. The jetty has been operational since December 2016 and was designed to accommodate Oasis – class cruise vessels on both sides of the structure. The project comprised a berthing structure for cruise ships, an open trestle providing pedestrian and light – vehicle access, aids to navigation, firefighting systems, lighting, and a paved pedestrian walkway. The scope also included upgrades to the coastal protection system, including improvements to the existing groynes along the Cruise Beach.

To support the rapid expansion of Khalifa Port, Abu Dhabi Ports initiated a major expansion programme comprising two new gener al cargo terminals. The project included the construction of a 3 km long quay wall at South Quay with a berthing depth of −18.5 m L AT, and a further 3 km long quay wall along the Foreshore with berthing depths of −8.0 m LAT and −16.0 m LAT. The works also encompassed associated capital dredging, demolition of an existing breakwater, and extensive reclamation and ground improvement wor ks to create approximately 2.65 km2 of new terminal yard area.
Today marks the online launch of SEVRA — a milestone we are proud to share, after already being up and running for the past two months.
